Christian Hahn

Christian Hahn (* 1969 in Nuremberg ) is a contemporary German painter.

Life

From 1989 to 1993 Hahn studied illustration at the HAW Hamburg (diploma 1993). From 1993 to 2001 he studied at the Hamburg University of Fine Arts with Olav Christopher Jenssen and Werner Büttner . He received a diploma in 1999 and was a master class student in 2001. Hahn lives in Hamburg .

Works

Christian Hahn developed a painting with a figurative approach from a non-representational painting that was strongly influenced by sampling. Different stylistic elements or levels of reality collide in his works and condense into an ornamental system. “In any case, the pictures have something to do with deposits, with a vocabulary of forms that has accumulated and has to be removed. And of course I like the spatiality that arises in the pictures through the staggering of the motifs. A kind of suction is created that attracts the viewer ... "

The situations that Hahn conjures up are usually filled with a strong dynamic. Targeted staggering of the content of the presentation and the partial insight into the scenery guide the viewer's gaze in depth. “Christian Hahn lets players and fighters of our day appear in his paintings ... All expansive processes, actions full of dynamism and physical use. But Hahn fixes his heroes in the surface of the picture. "

Hahn belongs to the first generation of artists who are influenced by digital media. A reflection of this can be found in his work. Opposites such as natural and artificial are worked out painterly and formulated into a visually tempting but critical work.
