Christian Koppe (* before 1669; † January 23, 1721 ) was a German city governor and councilor ( councilor ) of Berlin around 1669.

Koppe acquired in 1696 and he was a large area in today's Berlin district of Mitte , which he 1704 the urban poor management on the establishment of a poor graveyard gave. According to his wishes, he and his family were buried there “in the midst of the deceased poor”.

The eastern part of the cemetery area, which was otherwise built up in the second half of the 19th century, forms today's Koppenplatz .

Since 1855 the city of Berlin has honored the founder with a memorial designed by Friedrich August Stüler on the south-western corner of the square. The memorial plaque inside is probably the oldest donated by the city of Berlin.

In addition, Koppenstrasse in the Friedrichshain district is named after him .
