Christian Martin (political scientist)

Christian W. Martin is a German political scientist and professor of political science at the Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel .

Life

Martin began basic studies in general and comparative literature at the University of Konstanz in 1992 , then switched to a degree in administrative science in 1994. He successfully completed his studies in 2000.

Martin then worked as a research assistant at the Chair of International Politics at the University of Konstanz and received his doctorate in 2002. Various post-doctoral positions followed, and in 2004 he was appointed junior professor for political science at the Department of Social Sciences and at the Center for Globalization and Governance of the University of Hamburg . He held this until May 2011. During this time, Martin worked for several years at Northwestern University in Illinois as a Visiting Assistant Professor.

In June 2011, Martin accepted an offer from Kiel University, where he has held a professorship in political science ever since. In the 2016/2017 winter semester, he will take over the Max Weber Chair for German and European Studies at New York University .

His research focus is on the topics of interdependence and policy diffusion, globalization processes and agent-based simulation models.
