Christian August Peicke

Christian August Peicke (born October 23, 1846 in Groß-Ottersleben ; † February 14, 1939 there ) was a German homeland researcher.

Peicke was the son of a farming family that had lived in Ottersleben for several centuries.

He took part in the wars of 1866 and 1870/1871. In 1870 he married and moved to his wife's family estate in Tarthun . He later returned to Ottersleben. Here he enlarged the family farm significantly. He was one of the largest landowners in the place.

From 1884 to 1888 he was mayor of Groß-Ottersleben. As a result of an accident, he suffered an injury that resulted in paralysis of one arm.

He worked intensively on researching the history of the villages of Groß-Ottersleben, Klein-Ottersleben and Benneckenbeck, which today belong to the city of Magdeburg as the Ottersleben district . In 1902 he published a work that makes a significant contribution to local history research.

The city of Magdeburg named a street in his honor ( Christian-Peicke-Straße ).
