Tarthun is a district of the municipality of Bördeaue in the Salzlandkreis in Saxony-Anhalt .
geography
The town, which is characterized by agriculture, is located on the Bode about 25 kilometers south of Magdeburg .
history
The establishment of the place goes back to the Counts of Hadmersleben. The most important monuments of the community are the village church of St. Johannis from the 13th century, the monastery courtyard from the 14th century and two pigeon towers from the beginning of the 18th century.
During the Second World War , prisoners of war were deported to the village as Nazi slave laborers . They had the local salt mine , potash mine shafts 4 and 6, the underground construction of Heinkel He 162 for the Organization Todt , OT, work . This camp was identified as "T 60", the camouflage term for the project was "Mole". They were also forced to work there for the Junkers aircraft and engine works . These forced laborers were subordinate to the Schönebeck (Elbe) subcamp , a subcamp of the Buchenwald concentration camp . There is also evidence of a Belgian forced laborer with an unknown name (“F.”).
On January 1, 2010 the previously independent municipalities of Tarthun and Unseburg merged to form the new municipality of Bördeaue.

- Graves in the local cemetery for 13 Soviet and seven Polish prisoners of war as well as for five Polish women.

The coat of arms was designed by the Magdeburg municipal heraldist Jörg Mantzsch . It shows the historic and listed pigeon tower of Tarthun.
