Christian (Karl) Schönamsgruber (* 1875 in Nuremberg ; † 1961 there ) was a German engraver and medalist and is one of Nuremberg's most important Art Nouveau artists.

Schönamsgruber's early ambitions to become a sculptor were disapproved by his father and so he had to learn the craft of engraving.

He was able to sharpen his talent in the second course from Richard Riemerschmid and in the first two courses from Friedrich Adler , so that he was able to open his own workshop in 1903 with the support of the Lothar von Faber Foundation . Numerous works made of metal were purchased from the sample collection of the Nuremberg Industrial Museum , with his artistic focus being on the processing of silver. In later years he became a teacher for engraving and chasing at the vocational training school in Nuremberg.
