Christiane Henriette Beck

Christiane Henriette Beck , called Madame Beck or Die alte Beck , also Henriette Wallenstein and Henriette Zeitheim (* 1756 in Graz ; † March 24, 1833 in Jena ) was a German theater actress .

Life

Beck was before by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe for the Court Theater in Weimar was won, a member of the Seylerschen Directorate in Mannheim, where she played as a 24-year-old young woman next to the naive specialist outspoken character roles. In 1784 she left Mannheim as a result of an argument with the local director Johann Ludwig Rennschüb. After staying for a long time she was hired by Goethe for Weimar in 1794. She worked in Weimar until November 17, 1823.

At last she became mentally weak and had to be taken to a madhouse in 1833. Her life ended there in the same year.
