House on Schüppchenberg

Christiansdorf , in the spelling 1183: Christianesdorph and 1185: Christianisdorf , was a Waldhufendorf and later a mining settlement in the Mark Meißen . The place was founded in the 1160s and was a forerunner settlement of today's city of Freiberg . It was located on the so-called Schüppchenberg , where the Berggasse is today. In the corridors of Christiansdorf, according to oral tradition and legend, the first ore in the Freiberg mining area and thus in the Ore Mountains - solid silver - was found on the same Schüppchenberg .
