Christine Jeffs

Christine Jeffs (born January 29, 1963 in Lower Hutt , New Zealand ) is a film director and screenwriter .

Life

Christine Jeffs attended Massey University and earned a bachelor's degree in sociology and geography. She gained her first experience in the film sector in the post-production and editing of documentaries and films from New Zealand. In 1990 she graduated from the Australian Film Television and Radio School with a degree in film editing. Her first short film Stroke , for which Christine Jeffs wrote the script, directed and post-produced, was shown at the Cannes and Sundance film festivals, among others . Her first full-length film, the adaptation by Kirsty Gunns Rain , premiered in 2001 in Cannes. In addition to her work on films, Jeffs also directs commercials .

Christine Jeffs lives with the cameraman John Toon , with whom she shot Rain - Regentage , Sylvia and, most recently, Sunshine Cleaning , in Matakana , New Zealand.

In 2017 she was accepted into the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS), which awards the Oscars every year.
