The Christian Social Association Switzerland (CSV) is an association within the Christian Democratic People's Party of Switzerland (CVP). CSV Switzerland was founded on April 7, 2018 as the successor organization to the sections of the Christian Social Party Switzerland (CSP) , which belong to CVP Switzerland.

The President of the CSV has been the Solothurn CVP National Councilor Stefan Müller-Altermatt . The CSV currently has six cantonal sections: Aargau, Lucerne, St. Gallen, Upper Valais, Zug and Zurich.

The CSV Switzerland and its cantonal parties are sub-groups within the CVP Switzerland and are based on their convictions and goals. On the international level, the CSV is a member of the Union of Christian Socials (UCS).

Political positions

The CSV defines its political positioning as Christian-social and describes itself as “the civil representation of employees”. It is based on basic Christian ethical values and focuses on social and ecological issues in addition to the CVP core topics of family and health. The C stands for "solidarity and sustainable action and respect for fellow human beings, future generations and the environment".

The abbreviation CSV is also interpreted by her as "Common Sense & Values".

Federal elections 2019

In the federal elections on October 20, 2019 ( Swiss parliamentary elections 2019 ), the CSV will be running for the first time with its own lists, as sub-lists of the CVP, in the cantons of Zurich, Aargau and Lucerne. In the canton of Zurich, the list is headed by five candidates, including the previous CVP National Councilor Kathy Riklin .
