Christoph Geilen

Christoph Claus Geilen (* in the 20th century ) is a German human medicine, biochemist and rector of the HMU Health and Medical University Potsdam .

Life

Geilen studied human medicine from 1979 to 1986 and biochemistry from 1982 to 1988 at the Free University of Berlin . In 1988 he received his doctorate in human medicine and in 1993 in chemistry.

From 1988 to 1993 Geilen worked as a research assistant at the Institute for Molecular Biology and Biochemistry at the Free University of Berlin. From 1993 to 1996 he worked as a research assistant at the Clinic and Polyclinic for Dermatology at the Benjamin Franklin University Hospital . In 1997 Geilen became a specialist in dermatology and venereology and completed his habilitation two years later in the field of dermatology and venereology in the human medicine department of the Free University of Berlin. In 2000 he was appointed adjunct professor for physiological chemistry.

In 1997 Geilen became senior physician at the Clinic and Polyclinic for Dermatology at the Benjamin Franklin University Hospital. From 2000 to 2004 he was senior physician and deputy to the clinic director. In 2004/05 he worked as a senior consultant at the Clinic for Dermatology, Venereology and Allergology at the Charité in Berlin. Geilen has been running his own private practice for dermatology, venereology and allergology in Berlin since 2005.

From 2006 to 2011 he was acting representative of the chair for biochemistry at the Medical Faculty Mannheim at the University of Heidelberg. From 2013 to 2015 he was Dean of the Faculty of Human Sciences at MSH Medical School Hamburg and has been Vice-Rector for Studies and Teaching since 2015.

Since January 2020 he has been Rector of the HMU Health and Medical University Potsdam .
