Christoph Nicol (* 1989 ) is a German basketball coach .

career

As a player, Nicol represented the colors of BiG Gotha. In 2006 he won the East German Championship with the Thuringian U18 team, in the men's area he played for Gotha's team in the 1st regional league.

From 2008 Nicol also worked as a trainer in youth work in Gotha, in the 2011/12 season he took over  the position of assistant coach under head coach Marko Simić in Gotha's men's team in the 2nd Bundesliga ProA . At the beginning of the 2012/13 season he looked after Gotha's second men's team in the 2nd regional league as head coach. When the Thuringians separated from Simić in autumn 2012, Nicol, who was studying sports management in Erfurt, took over the coaching duties in the second division team with Yvonne Schäfer, initially temporarily and then permanently at the beginning of December 2012. He stayed in office until the end of the second division season 2012/13.

In the 2017/18 season, Nicol worked at Hamburg Towers as a youth coach and headed the mini area. On May 1, 2018, he took the position of managing director of Cux-Basketball UG, the operator of the Cuxhaven Baskets team . In mid-November 2018 he filed for bankruptcy for Cux-Basketball UG for financial reasons and initially announced that he would withdraw the team from playing in the 1st regional league with immediate effect, but then decided to keep the game going and try to recover the missing funds to recruit. In December 2018, in addition to his work as managing director, Nicol took up the coaching position in Cuxhaven after the previous team Darren Stackhouse / Aaron Cook had to leave for economic reasons. Nicol missed the regional league relegation with the team. At the end of May 2019, the Cuxhaven-based company was again in financial difficulties, whereupon the shareholders raised allegations against Nicol. Nicol's tenure in Cuxhaven ended in 2019. He then worked as a youth coach at the Berlin association Einheit Pankow.
