Christoph Pfau

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Christoph Martin Pfau (born August 8, 1984 in Salzburg ) is an Austrian golfer .

Life

Pfau began playing golf at the age of seven at the GC Salzburg-Rif. His first teacher there was Alex Müller. After completing secondary school, the poly course and an apprenticeship as an office clerk, as well as initial successes at state level and 2nd place at the Austrian junior championships, he was accepted into the Austrian national team.

In autumn 2007 he switched to the professional camp and already won his first prize money when he appeared as a professional at the Sueno Classic for the second time.

Record lap

Christoph Pfau

September 30, 2011 will not be forgotten by Christoph Pfau and Austria's golf fans: the 27-year-old from Salzburg only needs a fabulous 58 strokes for his second tournament round at the Austrian PGA Championship - 13 under par on the par 71 course!

"It's an unbelievable feeling, I'm only slowly beginning to realize it," Pfau struggled for words a short time later. After two eagles and two birdies he is already under par after 4 holes 6 in Metzenhof. After the birdie on hole 7, Pfau even does a bogey.

After a birdie three-pack away from hole 10, the peacock, who usually plays on the German EPD tour, climbs 9 under par: "I thought for the first time that it could get really deep because I still have a few holes to go." Pfau finished his round in style with three birdies: "My best lap so far was 7 under par. But golf is a sport that is all about constancy," he wants to stay on the ground - and start again at Even Par the next day ...

Pfau is thus entering a golfing dimension that only few have reached before: Japan's super talent Ryo Ishikawa achieved 58 on a par 70 course at the Crowns Tournament as part of the Japan Tour last year. On the US PGA Tour, 59 was the record three times, and on the European Tour no player ever beat 60.
