Christophe Fiatte (born May 18, 1967 in Dijon ; † December 23, 2015 ) was a French football player who played as a professional exclusively for AS Red Star 93 .

Club career

Fiatte came from Dijon in eastern France and played in adolescence until 1986 for the local amateur club CL Dijon and from there moved to CS Alençon in the west of the country. With this he entered the fourth-highest division, before he succeeded in 1988 switching to third division AS Red Star 93 from Saint-Ouen on the outskirts of the capital Paris.

In 1989, the then 22-year-old reached promotion to the second division with his team, which was equivalent to entering professional football. As a result, he experienced his first season as a professional, with the defender mostly held a regular place. In the following years he fought with the Red Star to stay in the class, which was particularly difficult to achieve in the 1992/93 season due to the reduction of the previously double-track second division to one season. In this season in particular, however, the team experienced a significant increase and even remained only a few points behind a possible promotion. In the following years, the team was able to keep in the now single-track second division in the upper half of the table, although the promotion never succeeded. Fiatte was regularly called up, which only changed in the 1997/98 season. Due to heart problems, he could hardly play anymore and had to retire at the end of the season at the age of 31. By then he had made 213 second division games with six goals of his own for Red Star.

He remained loyal to his club from Saint-Ouen beyond the end of his playing career and initially took over the coaching post of the second team. From the 2000/01 season he trained together with Jean-Luc Girard the first team of the Red Star, which now only entered third class. In 2001 there was even relegation to the fourth division and the following year relegation to the fifth division. This ended his time as a coach at the financially troubled club. Fiatte died in 2015 at the age of 48 after suffering a heart attack and lying in a coma for a few days.
