Christopher Pelling
Christopher Brendan Reginald Pelling (born December 14, 1947 ) is a British Graecist and emeritus Regius Professor of Greek at Oxford University .
Life
Christopher Pelling was educated at Cardiff High School and was a Senior Scholar at Balliol College , Oxford in the 1960s . He was then a Fellow and Praelector in Classics at University College Oxford for twenty-nine years . He broke new ground by analyzing historical texts from Tacitus to Plutarch. In 2003 he returned to Christ Church College Oxford and became Regius Professor of Greek. He was elected a Fellow of the British Academy (FBA) in 2009.
