Christopher J. Raxworthy
Christopher John Raxworthy (born February 5, 1964 ) is a British herpetologist who is a curator of herpetology at the American Museum of Natural History .
Raxworthy graduated from the University of London (Royal Holloway and Bedford New College) with a bachelor's degree in 1985 and received his PhD from the Open University in 1989 . He was an assistant professor at the University of Kansas from 1996 and at Columbia University from 1998 to 2000 . He then became an associate professor and curator at the American Museum of Natural History.
In particular, he examined the herpetofauna on Madagascar (for example geckos and chameleons). He was also on field studies in Vietnam, Ghana and Mali. He deals with the application of geographic information systems and satellite data for species protection and ecological issues.
He first described 50 species of reptiles by 2010.
