Christopher Lewis (musicologist)
Christopher Orlo Lewis (* 1947 ; † 1992 ) was a Canadian musicologist.
Lewis taught at the University of Alberta . His area of expertise was the tonality of late and post-romantic music. He wrote articles on Arnold Schoenberg and Gustav Mahler , including a study of the chronology of the composition of Kindertotenlieder and the monograph Tonal Coherence in Mahler's Ninth Symphony . His essay The Mind's Chronology: Narrative Times and Tonal Disruption in Post-Romantik Music appeared in The Second Practice of Nineteenth-Century Tonality in 1996 .
