Christopher Spehr

Christopher Spehr (* 1971 in Bad Oeynhausen ) is a German Protestant theologian. He has been Professor of Church History at the Theological Faculty of Friedrich Schiller University Jena since 2011 .

biography

From 1992 to 1999 Spehr studied Protestant theology in Bethel, Tübingen and Zurich. After the first theological exam at the Evangelical Church of Westphalia in 1999, he received a doctoral scholarship from the Konrad Adenauer Foundation . In 2004 Spehr received his doctorate in theology from the Evangelical Theological Faculty of the Westphalian Wilhelms University of Münster; the dissertation was awarded the dissertation prize of the Westphalian Wilhelms University of Münster in 2006.

The vicariate in Herne-Holsterhausen and the second theological exam in 2004 was followed by a position as a research assistant at the Seminar for Church History II in Münster. Spehr completed his habilitation there in 2009; the habilitation thesis was awarded the Hanns Lilje Prize 2010. This was followed by substitute professorships in Bochum and Jena.

Since the winter semester 2011/12, Spehr has been Professor (W 3) for Church History at the Theological Faculty of the Friedrich Schiller University Jena. In 2012 she was ordained by the Evangelical Church in Central Germany . Since 2013 he has been the representative of the Presidium of the Friedrich Schiller University Jena for the Reformation anniversary in 2017 .

In 2014 he was awarded the Golden Medal of the Comenius University in Bratislava .
