The Christophorus-Kantorei Altensteig is the choir of the Christophorus-Gymnasium in Altensteig in the northern Black Forest with girls 'and boys' voices aged 14 to 18 years. The choir has been led by Michael Nonnenmann since 1993, and was founded in 1962 by Jürg Wieber. In special choir classes and in the Christophorus Children's Choir, the choristers are introduced to singing in the concert choir. In addition to intensive rehearsal work, each choir member receives individual tuition from voice instructors.

The Christophorus-Kantorei has a wide-ranging repertoire of sacred and secular choral music a cappella - with a focus on contemporary choral works. The performances of oratorio works, operas and musicals are also particular highlights.

Concert activity

The Christophorus Choir gives around 30 concerts a year at home and abroad. Every spring there is a two-week tour that has taken the choir to almost all European countries, to South Africa, Argentina, the USA, New Zealand and Namibia.

  • 2005: 1st prize at the Festival Internacional de Música de Cantonigròs in Spain
  • 2008: 3rd prize at the International Musical Eisteddfod in Llangollen / Wales
  • 2009: 2nd prize and audience prize at the Marktoberdorf International Chamber Choir Competition
  • 2009: Culture award (youth promotion award) of the state of Baden-Württemberg
  • 2010: 1st prize at the German Choir Competition in Dortmund
  • 2013: Two gold diplomas and special prize for the best presentation of the contemporary repertoire at the Mundus Cantat Festival Sopot / Poland
  • 2015: Two gold ribbons and Grand Prix of the International Youth Music Festival in Bratislava / Slovakia
  • 2017: 1st prize with gold certificate and 3rd prize with gold certificate at the Harmonie Festival in Limburg-Lindenholzhausen
  • 2017: Two gold stamps at the Tampere Vocal Music Festival Tampereen Sävel in Tampere / Finland
  • 2018: 1st prize and special prize for contemporary music at the International Choir Competition in Zadar / Croatia
