Christ Church Leverkusen

The Christ Church is a Protestant church in the Wiesdorf district of Leverkusen . It is the seat of the Leverkusen-Mitte community in the Evangelical Church District of Leverkusen .

history

The Elberfeld architect Arno Eugen Fritsche built the church in the years 1904–1906. A total of 700 visitors found space in the church, which was built as a sermon church according to the Erfurt building program. The inauguration was on July 8, 1906.

In an air raid in October 1944, the church was badly damaged and the interior was completely destroyed. The Leverkusen architect Wilhelm Fähler drafted the plans for the redesign of the interior in the years 1948–1949.

The last renovation of the church in 2001 cost almost 750,000 DM.
