The chronicle of the Speer offices has been compiled since 1941 by Rudolf Wolters, among others, of the processes in the offices of the General Building Inspector for the Reich capital and the Ministry of Armaments, which are under Albert Speer's responsibility .

The way of the chronicle was researched by the historian Matthias Schmidt . The uncleaned version (Coesfelder version) documents u. a. Speer's participation in the so-called renting of Jews in Berlin. In 1980, Wolters pointed out to the young historian Schmidt original documents and forgeries by Speer. Speer himself had pointed out Wolters to Schmidt.

Speer had sent a version cleaned by Wolters in 1964 to the Federal Archives in Koblenz in 1969 , although he knew that the British author David Irving had a copy.

A Dr. Have had Lotz. Material from the chronicle was also available in extracts from a Dr. Goerner present. The documents that Wolters had - primarily the "Chronicle of the Speer Service Offices" - should be left to Professor Hubatsch and me in Coesfeld for inspection. Before doing so, however, one must consider to what extent the persons mentioned there could possibly be harmed by a publication. It can be assumed that these considerations resulted in Wolters' “cleansing” of the Speer Chronicle, especially those text passages in which the General Building Inspector's evacuation campaigns against the Berlin Jews are mentioned; In any case, Wolters gives precisely this employee protection motive when he later justifies his forgery campaign from that year 1964 to Speer. Professor Hubatsch promised the Speer representatives the utmost confidentiality. If necessary, he should be entrusted with the review of Speer's memoirs and their classification in the overall historical context, while my task should be to present the “factual part of Speer's performance”.
