The Federal Academy for Defense Administration and Technology (BAkWVT) was an educational institute of the Bundeswehr based in Mannheim .

The BAkWVT served the Federal Armed Forces administration as a central educational institute for the education and training of civil servants and employees in higher areas of responsibility, as well as the career training of civil servants in the higher and higher technical service. Around 450 courses with more than 10,000 participants were held annually.

history

A year after the Bundeswehr was founded, a Bundeswehr administration school was established in Mannheim in 1956. The Academy for Defense Administration and Technology was founded in 1961, and that year there were 341 course participants. In 1974 the name was changed to the Federal Academy for Defense Administration and Defense Technology . For the 25th anniversary in 1986, 6,000 participants already attended the academy. In 1994 a branch office was set up in Berlin-Grünau. In 2001, 12,000 course participants were recorded. As part of the realignment of the Bundeswehr , the Bundesakademie was absorbed into the Bundeswehr's newly established training center at the end of 2012 .
