Charles James Lyall
Sir Charles James Lyall (* 1845 ; † September 1, 1920 in London ) was a British Orientalist and high official (including Chief Commissioner ≈ Chief Commissioner) in various provinces of British India . His academic work includes translations of Arabic poetry .
Life
On June 22, 1897 he was made Knight Commander of the Order of the Star of India (KCSI) and from then on carried the title of nobility "Sir". In 1915 he was elected a member ( Fellow ) of the British Academy .
