Chu Sang-sŏng is a North Korean military and politician.
Chu Sang-sŏng became a candidate of the Central Committee of the Labor Party of Korea in 1970 and a full member in 1991. In the Korean People's Army he became a colonel general in 1992 and a general in 1997 . In 2004 he was appointed Minister for People's Security. Even after the 2009 parliamentary elections , he remained in office in the second cabinet of Minister Council Chairman Kim Yŏng-il . As the People's Security Minister , he is also a member of the National Defense Commission , the de facto most powerful body in the country.
