Cidnopus pilosus is a beetle from the family of beetles (Elateridae).
features
The black click beetles are 8.5–12 mm long. The uneven and slightly wider than long pronotum is strong and densely dotted. Clear dot stripes run over the wing covers . The first antennae can be placed in a groove on the inner edge of the prothorax .
distribution
Cidnopus pilosus is one of 5 species of the genus Cidnopus that occur in Central Europe. Cidnopus pilosus is widespread in Europe and is only absent in the far north and on the British Isles . To the southeast the occurrence extends to Asia Minor and the Caucasus . The species does not occur in the alpine region .
Way of life
The larvae develop on grass roots. The adult beetles can be seen between the beginning of April and mid-June. The species is considered to be xerophilic . The typical habitat of the beetles are sunny meadows, heather and light forests.
