Ciel - The last autumn (in the original: Ciel: The Last Autumn Story ) is a fantasy - manwha the South Korean illustrator Rhim Ju-yeon . At the center of the plot is the girl Yvien Magnolia, who learns to use magic at Lowood's magic school. The series appeared in Korea from 2005 to 2013 and has also been translated into German.

15-year-old Yvien Magnolias lives an inconspicuous life in the village. The somewhat naive and inexperienced, but very beautiful girl works as a maid for a nobleman who wants to marry her off to his ugly son. One day, however, when she has to flee from the nobleman again, she ends up in a magic school that is subordinate to the royal family. She meets the young Duke January Lightsphere and his roommate Daughter.
Although she is not aristocratic, Yvien passes the school entrance exam. Magic is actually considered a royal privilege. When classes in Lowood begin, Yvien needs a familiar, a partner to help her do magic. Even if she can't find a partner at first, she still uses her magic powers. After Lariatte King-Diamond, the daughter of a well-known family, rescues her from a precarious situation, she becomes Yviens Familiar. The two gradually get to know each other better. Yvien also meets Ska and Marion Evereth, the legendary founders of the kingdom.
Daughter meanwhile pursues a mysterious vampire. January is locked in a basement, but Daughter frees him. Yvien and Krohiten, a teacher at the Lowood Institute, wander through the large basement of the institute, because the teacher Oktavia Yvien tricked out of jealousy. Baroness Lightsphere, January's aunt, has become a vampire and is visiting her nephew. The Countess is talking to Yvien when she comes out of the cellar and kills herself shortly afterwards. Daughter agrees to kill January if he turns into a monster. These have the power to kill people with magic.
Yvien is tutored by Krohites because their field is heaven. Krohiten is the air dragon. Yvien and Lariatte are accepted into the elite unit "Pentagon Crisis", which fights against monsters. When she first went out, she was watched by a reporter and became famous. In the end, she is injured in the ear by a monster. In order to be able to wear two earrings, she can also have the second one pierced by Krohiten.

The work by Rhim Ju-yeon was published as Ciel: The Last Autumn Story from 2005 to 2013 in the Manhwa magazine Issue of the Daewon CI publisher and the individual chapters were summarized in a total of 23 edited volumes. In Germany, 22 volumes have been published by Tokyopop since August 2007 , with the final volume planned for June 2015.

According to AnimaniA , the world of the series is " just as much inspired by classic fairy tale motifs as it is by modern fantasy stories" . The characters are “ nice to look at, especially the main character Ives [sic!] With her Shōjo- typical large, shiny eyes. The Victorian style of the clothing creates a certain flair ”. In addition to varied panels and dynamic action scenes using slanted picture frames and speedlines, the Manhwa also offers humor, especially in the form of super-deformed scenes.
