Cimitero Evangelico agli Allori

The Cimitero Evangelico agli Allori is a cemetery in Florence , Italy established in 1878 . It is located in the southwest of the city in the Galluzzo district .

history

When, from 1877, new burials were no longer possible on the Cimitero degli Inglesi in the center, a commission from the various Protestant churches in Florence planned a new cemetery for non-Catholic Christian burials in front of the city gates. It got its name from the nearby property "Agli Allori" and was opened on February 26, 1878. In 1880 a simple chapel was built.

The cemetery was expanded around the year 2000. The originally Protestant cemetery is now open to all religious affiliations and non-denominationalists.
