Cinderella is a Java based dynamic geometry software . It was developed by Ulrich Kortenkamp and Jürgen Richter-Gebert . Cinderella offers the possibility of working with non-Euclidean geometries and is the only one of the Java-based Dynamic Geometry Systems (DGS) to be sold commercially. Since 2013, however, the pro version (2.8) has also been available free of charge for non-commercial purposes.

properties

Since Cinderella is programmed in Java , this software can be used on all Java-enabled operating systems.

Cinderella offers the possibility of exporting pictures and applets to the Internet without the program being installed. It is possible to create tasks that can review the solution and give contextual tips on how to proceed.

Cinderella can represent different geometries:

  • Euclidean geometry
  • elliptical geometry and
  • hyperbolic geometry.

Cinderella 1.4 versus Cinderella.2

The version 2.0 ( "Cinderella.2" ), has many new features. What is particularly striking about the new version is the extended physical capabilities. It is possible to visualize experiments from kinetics and mechanics, e.g. B:

  • Move
  • Gravity to a floor or point source of gravity
  • Reflection on a straight surface
  • Power transmission.

There are many sample files on the Cinderella page.
