Cineteca di Bologna

The Cineteca di Bologna is one of the most important European cinematheques based in Bologna . It was founded in 1963 and has been an active member of the Fédération Internationale des Archives du Film (FIAF) since 1989 and a founding member of the Association des Cinémathèques Européennes (ACE). In addition, the Cineteca has been an independent municipal institution since 1995.

The Cineteca is an internationally recognized center for the conservation and restoration of films. She gained fame through the Chaplin Project. The Cineteca was given the task of restoring the entire cinematic oeuvre of Charles Chaplin .

The film archive manages more than 18,000 films in 16 mm and 35 mm format. The library has around 20,000 volumes on film and cinema, 2500 illustrated books and 2000 graphic and comic books. The estate of Pier Paolo Pasolini has also been here since 2003 .
