Cipriano Olivera

Cipriano Olivera (* 1894 ; † 1985 ) was a Uruguayan politician .

General Olivera, who was a member of the Colorado Partido , served as Chief of Staff of the Uruguayan Army at least in the late 1940s. He was later from March 1, 1959 to March 23, 1961 Minister of Defense of Uruguay. He resigned because he saw his competence being questioned by the members of the Consejo Nacional de Gobierno , although they finally tried to persuade him to remain in office from this side.
