CiteULike

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

CiteULike was a free social bookmarking - web service , which allowed scientific publications together in the Internet to read, store and manage. The bibliographical information on an article was simply read into the system via a bookmarklet in the web browser . It competed with the very similar services Mendeley and Zotero .

The own library remained stored on the server and could be accessed from any computer via a web browser.

The stored bibliographic information could be exported in BibTeX or EndNote format , among other things .

CiteULike was developed in November 2004 by Richard Cameron and initially operated privately. In December 2006, together with Chris Hall, Kevin Emamy and James Caddy, he founded Oversity Ltd. in Great Britain in order to continue to operate CiteULike professionally. The service was discontinued in 2019.
