Citong

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Citong ( Chinese  辞 通  - "collection of expressions") is a Chinese dictionary edited by Zhu Qifeng ( 朱 起 凤 ). It mainly deals with two-character expressions. It is almost unique because it gives a large number of variants for the spellings of the words.

It was first published in Shanghai (Kaiming) in 2 volumes. It is considered to be one of the most important tools in Sinology . A more recent edition (Shanghai guji) contains an index volume ( Citong xubian 辞 通 续编 ).
