City Blues Connection is a German blues band.

Career

The band was founded in Hamburg in 1979. The founding members included singer and guitarist Norbert Egger and J. J. Surrey († 2015). In the same year the first LP City Blues Connection was released. In 1980 the second LP Bluesin 'n Boogin was released , recorded by Daniel Wertheimer, Matthias Hökendorf, Norbert Egger and Willi Korsch. It began touring with performances in the Federal Republic of Germany, among other things as a top act at the festival Tanz auf dem Vulkan 1982 in front of 8,000 listeners.

The third LP was I Do Not Play No Rock'n'Roll , on which the blues harp player Heiko Petcke († 2017) also took part. During this time, Norbert Egger was described as one of the best German slide guitarists on tours through German blues, jazz and rock clubs and at blues festivals, but the band had several line-up changes and received some negative reviews.

In 1985, in collaboration with Louisiana Red, the fourth LP Louisiana Red & City Blues Connection followed - World On Fire - on which Petcke and singer and bassist Uwe Seemann also participated - as well as television appearances, radio and live appearances.

From 1990 to 2015 there were sporadic appearances in Germany, Switzerland and Austria. From 2002 to 2005 the previously unreleased recordings Watch Your Step and unreleased studio recordings on Mallorca in 2013 were made.

The premiere of the new formation took place in October 2016: The line-up of the blues big band consists of three singers, supported by a multiple-manned brass section, piano / keyboard, rhythm / solo guitar, drums and permanent band members Norbert Egger (Vocals / slide guitar) and Uwe Seemann (vocals / bass).
