Cival

Cival is the name of an ancient Maya site in Guatemala ( Central America ). The facility in the Department of Peten was one of the largest cities in the Maya with an estimated population of up to 10,000. In modern times, the system was rediscovered and mapped for the first time in 1984 by Ian Graham . The excavation under the direction of Francisco Estrada-Belli began in 2001. The tallest building in the complex is a 27 meter high step pyramid surrounded by temples and squares.

As the excavations continue, new interesting finds can be expected.
