The Cividade de Âncora is a walled settlement of the Castro culture , which was used from the Iron Age to the 1st century AD. It is located on Monte da Suvidade, a ridge between the places Afife ( Viana do Castelo district ) and the municipality of Âncora , Caminha district in northern Portugal .

Round house foundations, as they can also be found in Âncora

At the excavation site on the southeast slope of the ridge you can see an oval house, a rectangular house and several round houses, one of them with a courtyard, as well as parts of the surrounding wall. Excavations between 1959 and 1961 also uncovered round houses and larger areas with paving in other areas and parts of the wall. In addition to pre-Roman and Roman ceramics , the most remarkable elements are ornate, some of which are on display in the Guimarães Museum.
