The Clapmatch Point is a headland from ridged lava rock at the southwestern end of Candlemas Iceland in the archipelago of the South Sandwich Islands . It marks the eastern limit of the southern entrance to the Nelson Channel .
The designation was made by the UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee in 1971. Clapmatch is the name commonly used by English-speaking seal hunters for female fur seals that also settle on this headland.
