The Claremont serial killer is linked to two women killed and a missing woman in Claremont, Australia in 1996 and 1997 .

Murders

On January 26, 1996, 18-year-old Sarah Spiers disappeared after hailing a taxi after visiting a nightclub. On June 9, 1996, 23-year-old Jane Rimmer disappeared, but was found dead in a bush in August 1996. A third victim disappeared on March 14, 1997. It was 27-year-old Ciara Glennon, who was found dead on April 3, 1997. From this point on, the investigators assumed a serial killer. During the investigation, another missing person was found, 22-year-old Julie Cuttler, who disappeared in 1988.

The investigation initially focused on checking taxi drivers, as all victims are believed to have used a taxi after leaving a nightclub. However, the investigation was unsuccessful. There was a first suspect only in 2006. Mark Dixie had killed an 18-year-old model in the UK and was in Australia at the time of the Claremont murders. In addition, his DNA was found in an unidentified woman who was killed and raped in Australia in 1998 . Despite careful scrutiny, he could not be unequivocally linked to the Claremont murders. He was sentenced to 34 years in prison for the murder in the UK in 2008.
