Coordinates: 31 ° 59 ′  S , 115 ° 47 ′  E The Town of Claremont is a local government area (LGA) in the Australian state of Western Australia . Claremont belongs to the metropolis of Perth , the capital of Western Australia. The area is 5 km² and has about 10,000 inhabitants (2016).

Claremont is located to the west of the city north of the Swan River about eight to ten kilometers west of Perth city ​​center . The seat of the Town Council is in the Claremont district in the east of the LGA, where about 8150 inhabitants live (2016).

The Claremont Council has ten members, nine Councilors are elected by the residents of the three Wards (three each from the South, East and West Ward). The mayor (mayor) and council chairman is also elected by all residents of the town.
