Coordinates: 32 ° 6 ′  S , 115 ° 47 ′  E The City of Cockburn is a local government area (LGA) in the Australian state of Western Australia . Cockburn belongs to the metropolis of Perth , the capital of Western Australia. The area is 168 km² and has about 89,700 inhabitants.

Cockburn is on the west coast south of the Swan River about 15 to 25 kilometers southwest of Perth city ​​center . The seat of the City Council is in the Spearwood district in the western half of the LGA, where around 10,000 people live (2016).
