Claude Lemaire

Claude Lemaire (born February 21, 1921 - February 5, 2004 ) was a French entomologist , zoologist and lepidopterologist .

Life

Having economics and civil law at the University of Paris had studied his doctorate he there to the Dr. iur. He then worked from 1949 to 1956 in the legal department of a bank and then from 1957 to 1959 as an auctioneer at the Drouot auction house in Paris .

In 1972 he became president of the Société entomologique de France , 1992 president of the Association for Tropical Lepidoptera and twice vice-president of the Lepidopterists' Society .

He specialized in peacock moth , published many articles and specialist books, and described many genera , species , subspecies and varieties .
