The Claudiaplatz is a place in the Innsbruck area Saggen . Like the street of the same name, it is named after Claudia de 'Medici , who was Princess of Tyrol from 1632 to 1646 . From 1930 to 1945 it was called Hindenburgplatz after the German President Paul von Hindenburg .

The round square, created in 1898 as part of the development of the Saggen, is located in the center of the district on the border between the loosely built villa district ("Villensaggen") in the west and the denser block perimeter development ("Blockaggen") in the east. Five streets flow asymmetrically into the square. These are clockwise from the south Claudiastraße, Elisabethstraße, Conradstraße, Kaiser-Franz-Joseph-Straße and Schillerstraße. In the middle of the square there is a round green area, vehicle traffic and the tram are shown around the roundabout .

The five Zwickel plots adjoining the square were built between 1898 and 1902 with representative residential buildings on trapezoidal or polygonal floor plans. Heinrich Boos, a real estate speculator from the Rhineland , had the three houses Claudiaplatz 1 (1898), Claudiaplatz 2 (1900/01) and Elisabethstraße 11 (1900/02) built by the Innsbruck builders A. Kohnle and Johann Huter. The Kaiser-Franz-Joseph-Straße 1 building, located in the line of sight of the Claudiastraße coming from the city center, was designed in a particularly elaborate manner by the Munich architect Ludwig Lutz. Characteristic of the four buildings are the building edges and central axes emphasized by turrets, dormers, gables and bay windows. Other than these four historicist buildings, the 1901/02 built house Claudiaplatz three elements of home style on.
