Claudio Lombardi

Claudio Lombardi is an Italian motorsport technician who was Technical Director at Scuderia Ferrari in the 1990s .

Lombardi studied mechanical engineering at the University of Bologna and joined Lancia’s racing department through Fiat . At Lancia he developed engines for rally vehicles such as the Delta S4 and the Lancia LC prototypes that were used in sports car races . Lombardi became Technical Director at Lancia under team boss Cesare Fiorio . Together with Fiorio, he moved to Scuderia Ferrari at the end of the 1980s and, after Fiorios was dismissed in 1991, became the new Technical Director of Scuderia and shared the position of team manager with Marco Piccinini . However, he was soon replaced in this position by Sante Ghedini . Lombardi turned his back on motorsport and was henceforth jointly responsible for the development and construction of Ferrari road vehicles.
