Marco Piccinini (* 1952 in Rome ) is a former team manager at Scuderia Ferrari .

Career

Marco Piccinini studied architecture in Rome and first came into contact with motorsport during his student days when he was working for an Italian Formula 3 team. He moved to Monaco in the 1960s and began a career in banking.

In 1974 he was one of the founding members of the first Monegasque racing car manufacturer Société Monégasque de Constructions Automobiles MP . In 1975 he was promoted to director of a Monegasque bank and joined Ferrari in 1977 as a consultant .

He rose quickly under Enzo Ferrari and worked for the Italian brand in various functions until the mid-1990s. Piccinini was race director and team boss at Scuderia and negotiated the Concorde Agreement with the FIA for the racing team . After leaving Ferrari, he held many official and honorary positions. From 1988 to 2008 he was Vice President of the FIA ​​and from 1993 to 1994 President of the Italian Automobile Association.

Piccinini is still a member of boards of directors and clubs such as the Monte Carlo Country Club . From 1997 to 2000 he was chairman of the Italian Americas Cup campaign, which only lost to Team New Zealand in the final with the yacht Luna Rossa .

In 2010, Piccinini, now a citizen of Monaco, became the Principality's ambassador to the People's Republic of China and India . In January 2011 he was appointed Finance Minister of Monaco; he held this post until his resignation in October 2012. In March 2013 it was announced that he was joining the board of directors of ABR Management as deputy chairman .
