Henry Herman Schwartz (born May 18, 1869 in Fort Recovery , Mercer County , Ohio , †  April 24, 1955 in Casper , Wyoming ) was an American politician ( Democratic Party ) who represented the state of Wyoming in the US Senate .

Born on a farm, Henry Schwartz received his education in Mercer County and Cincinnati . He then worked from 1892 to 1894 in Fort Recovery and from 1894 to 1896 in Sioux Falls ( South Dakota ) in the newspaper industry. He then studied law , was admitted to the bar in 1895 and began practicing law in Sioux Falls.

Schwartz began his political career as a member of the House of Representatives from South Dakota between 1896 and 1897. He then held a leading position at the Land Office , which led him to Spokane ( Washington ) and Helena ( Montana ) until 1907 . In that year he also worked briefly as a special assistant to the US Attorney General before he headed the field service of the Land Office in Washington, DC until 1910 .

In 1915 Schwartz moved to Wyoming. In his place of residence Casper he was president of the education committee; in the same capacity he was the high school authority in Natrona County from 1928 to 1934. In 1930 he applied for a seat in the US Senate for the first time, but was defeated by Republican Robert D. Carey . After serving in the Wyoming Senate from 1933 to 1935 , he ran again to the election against Carey and was successful this time, after which he entered the Washington Senate on January 3, 1937. He stayed there until January 3, 1943; when attempting re-election he failed because of the Republican Edward V. Robertson . Subsequently, US President Franklin D. Roosevelt appointed him to the National Mediation Board , of which he remained a member until 1947; then he returned to Casper, where he worked as a lawyer until his death in April 1955.
