Alan Kooi Simpson

Alan Kooi Simpson (born September 2, 1931 in Denver , Colorado ) is an American politician and a former Senator of the Republican Party .

After graduating from Cranbrook School in Bloomfield Hills , Simpson studied at the University of Wyoming at Laramie and, after graduating in 1954 and serving two years in the United States Army, attended the University of Wyoming Law School . In 1958 he was admitted to the bar and practiced in Cody . From 1964 to 1977 Simpson was a member of the House of Representatives from Wyoming before he was elected as a Republican to the US Senate on November 7, 1978 , where he represented the state of Wyoming as a senator from 1979 to 1997 . He was a member of the Baker Commission .

Alan Kooi Simpson is the son of former Senator Milward Lee Simpson .
