Clay Walker

Ernest Clayton "Clay" Walker, Jr. (born August 19, 1969 in Beaumont , Texas ) is an American country singer.

Life

Walker was discovered and promoted by music producer James Stroud, who also signed him for his Giant Records label. Walker's debut single What's To You reached number one on the country charts in 1993, as did the subsequent Live Until I Die . Both singles and another number 1 hit were extracts from the album Clay Walker , which went platinum .

A year later his second album came out: If I Could Make A Living , which was almost as successful as the first. One single became a number 1 hit, another made it to fifth place. The third album Hypnotize The Moon also reached platinum status. The theme song became Walker's seventh number 1 hit. The success remained constant at the highest level in 1997 with the next album Rumor Has It . Again there was platinum and again two number 1 singles were released.

In addition to the lengthy studio work, Clay Walker often appeared at concerts, once in 1995 in front of over 50,000 spectators in Houston. In 2003, the Texan split from Giant Records and signed a contract with RCA . The first CD to be released under the new label was A Few Questions . The title song, like I Can't Sleep, made it into the top ten.

His latest album, Fall , was released in April 2007.

Walker has sold more than eight million records and is one of the few artists who has made it into Billboard's top ten country music for five consecutive years.
