The Clayton County Courthouse in Elkader , the Justice and Administration Building ( Courthouse ) of Clayton County in the eastern part of the US -amerikanischen state of Iowa .

history

The Clayton County Courthouse was built in 1867–1868 from red brick over a foundation of limestone blocks in the Italianate style . An extension was completed ten years later, the clock tower completed the building in 1896. In front of the building there is a memorial in honor of soldiers and sailors in the civil war .

In 1976, the building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places with reference number 76000745 .
