Clemens Czwalina

Clemens Czwalina (* 1934 ) is a German sports scientist .

Life

From 1977 to 1995, Czwalina was Professor of Sports Science in the field of exercise and training at the University of Hamburg . From 1977 to 1980 he was director of the institute for sports science and after its upgrading and conversion to the sports science department in 1980, he was its first department spokesman.

His main research interests included sports games, he led projects on player analysis in volleyball and dealt with topics relating to physical education and, in the late 1960s and early 1970s, the "contribution of physical exercise and sport to political education".

Czwalina was the author and co-author of several basketball textbooks, including basketball. Part 2: Basics of technology in pictures. Series of publications for sports science and sports practice (1971, together with Hans-Dieter Niedlich ), basketball. Part 1: Basics of technology. Series of publications for sports science and sports practice (1973, together with Hans-Dieter Niedlich) and the counter-block in basketball. A learning and training program (1982, together with Brigitta Brandt and Sabine Stahl). The active golfer was also the author and editor of numerous other articles and books on sports science topics. Czwalina chaired the Sports Science Libraries Working Group (AGSB). From 1988 to 1996 he was a member of the Federal Institute for Sport Science's advisory board “Documentation and Information” or “Specialized Information” (appointment by the Federal Minister of the Interior, Ref .: SM 1 - 375 182/1 or SM 5 - 372 421/1 ).
