The Clement Church ( Polish Kościół św. Klemensa w Ustroniu ) in the center of Ustroń , Poland , is a Roman Catholic parish church in the Silesian Beskids . It has the patronage of Clement of Rome .
history
The parish was established before 1447 and initially had a church on the site of the old Catholic cemetery, which became Lutheran during the Reformation and Catholic again in 1654 during the Counter-Reformation. In 1740 the Jesuits opened an orphanage with a chapel on the site of today's Clemenskirche. In the second half of the 18th century, the old church was demolished, but the cemetery remained, and the parish used the Jesuit chapel as a parish church from 1784, which was expanded until 1788. The orphanage was converted into a rectory. The new tower was completed in 1837 and the church was given its current appearance by 1840. The two baroque figures of St. Nepomuk and St. Joseph in front of the church were created by Wacław Donay at the end of the 18th century .
