Clement W. Fugh

Clement W. Fugh (* in Memphis, Tennessee) is an American clergyman with the African Methodist Episcopal Church (AME) and currently bishop of the AME's Fifth District, which stretches from California to Missouri .

Life

Clement W. Fugh grew up in Memphis, Tennessee, and attended school here before going to Memphis State University to study economics. This was followed by studies at Boston University , which he completed with a master's in theology . During his theological studies he also attended courses at several other theological schools.

Fugh has served as a pastor in the states of Tennessee , Kentucky, and Ohio . Eventually, he led the Greater Bethel AME Church in Nashville , Tennessee, as senior pastor . In 2000 he was elected 5th General Secretary by the General Conference of the African Methodist Episcopal Church. In 2002 he was elected and consecrated the 131st Bishop of the AME at the General Conference. The 14th district was subordinated to him as a diocese , which includes several countries in West Africa. In 2016 he became bishop of the Fifth District.
